Are you searching a thrifty feeding stand for your dog? then here we have grabbed a decent diy pallet dog furniture to make you get with that. We have consumed almost one pallet skid for this diy pallet dog bowl stand which was a great addition to our pet’s house. We stripped up the pallets and separated them in a rustic pile of planks, then we build a squared top with equally thick and long planks and leaved the space for bowl to be fixed up which is a round circular hole.

This diy dog bowl stand was born out of necessity! both of my dogs, bear & clancy, require elevated dog food bowls. This requirement is partially due to medical needs and partially due to being spoiled! before building these dog bowl stands, my dog feeding station had a metal, two bowl holding stand. I don’t know about your dogs, but my two dogs will never eat side-by-side!  i tried to find a single pet bowl stand but couldn’t find one that i liked. Pretty quickly, i gave up and decided to make this my new project. I drew out some plans and set out to build my own!.

My big 10 year old lab is getting a lot slower and struggling a little bit so i thought this could help him out some and get his food and water closer to his face. Winged this one. Had a vague idea in my head that sort of evolved as it progressed. Used some left over 1x4 lumber to build a simple frame, and encased it in the pallet wood to give it the wood crate look (jigged some hand holds in the side to give this same look). Used jig saw to cut the holes out of the 2 top boards for the bowls.

Cut the holes for the bowls

I ordered these simple white bowls to use with my dog bowl stand. The bottom lip measured 4″ diameter, so i wanted the holes i cut to sit these into to be slightly larger than 4″. I measured where i needed the center of my circles to be and found a 4 ½″ angle grinder sanding disc to draw as my template. If you don’t have a sanding disc, search around for a round object 4 ½″-5″ diameter to use instead. Small paint or stain cans could work for this as well.

In order to cut out the holes for the bowls i traced them on the bottom side of the top board. After that,  i used a smaller bowl (¼'' smaller) and traced it on the inside, this inside line is the line i needed to cut on. You cut on the inside circle, so the bowls have a lip to sit on when placed inside the cut out circles.

Cut the top to length from a 1x12 board, as shown in the cut diagram. Use a compass to lay out holes for the bowls, as shown. Make sure to get your bowls first so that you can verify their size. After laying out the holes, drill a 3/8" starter hole just inside each marked circle. Use a jigsaw to cut out the circles. Just insert the blade in the starter hole, and then cut. Sand the openings smooth when you are done.

The solid lines are the bottom of the bowl. The dotted one is the actual cutting line. We wanted the bowls to fit flush with the top of the table, so we needed the openings to be larger than the bottom measurement. We drilled holes to be able to insert the jigsaw blade. The purple tape is there to mark the edge of the table.

If it’s not stamped on the bottom of the bowl, you’ll need to measure the diameter of your dog’s food bowl and decide how much space you’d like between the bowls and around top the edges (images 1 and 2). Mark the center lines as shown using those measurements (image 3). Using a compass, scribe the circles making sure to create a nice dark line that's easy to see (images 4 and 5). Tip: in our case, the bowls are 8” at the lip, so our holes are 7-7/8” so the bowl will sit flush without falling through. Set the compass to half the diameter of the circle you’d like to cut, so in this case we’re using 3-15/16. ".

Wood cubbies can be turned into a great dog feeding station simply by cutting holes in the top for the bowls. This is great for the storage of dog toys, leashes, or even dog food.

How. Cute!!! i first “met” shara when she submitted her twisty side table for my one board challenge a couple of years ago. I dreamed up the one board challenge and invited a few blogger friends of mine to build something awesome out of a single board.
