life skills: tie a knot. Sew on a button
there are many ways of doing things. Not right not wrong, but many ways.
I’ve always told my students that their job is to learn from everyone they can, and to come up with the way that works best for them.
There are so many ways to open the curtain, but i know some may get bored of seeing a curtain shoved open. If you are tired of that dull look, you can always find ways to make the curtains look fancy or lively, even with simple gestures. One way is to tie a knot using the curtain. It achieves a fancy and elegant look.
First, begin with your necktie’s wide end on the right, extending about 12 inches below the narrow end on the left. Then, cross the broad end over the thin end. Wrap the broad end of the tie around the narrow end. Following this, take the broad end and pull it up and through the loop around your neck.
With your index finger, lightly hold the front of the knot and pull the broad end down through the front loop.
How to tie a dress knot. Holding both ends of the bow tie cross the longer end over the shorter end. Similar to the previous knot fold up the shirt in the back but slightly higher. Bring it up and over the neck loop where the tie rests around your neck close to the collar of your shirt and then across to the left.
Take hold of the small loop of the knot between your index finger and thumb. Keep pulling the thread gently with your working hand … …until it is close to the fabric… …and very small. Make sure the knot remains near the fabric by holding it between your finger and thumb and gently pulling the thread until it is a formed knot. Nb the photo does not show it held between the finger and thumb so you can see the knot which is formed.
You will need to stitch one smaller backstitch and loop it over the needle. Once the loop is twisted through, knot the fabric at the base with the thread. During the process of creating two or three small knots for a stronger lock, repeat what you did before.
This works exactly like the cheater-easy-thread-knoting-trick , but with fabric in the way. (more technically, the aforementioned trick works exactly like a bullion knot, but without the fabric. )i spaced the knots above by taking stitches on the underside of the fabric. After each knot, i push the needle down right next to the knot, and push it out where i want the next knot. I thought i should mention that, because i remember when my great aunt gin first showed me these knots when i was like, 5, i was completely baffled by why there was no string between them. (i come from a long line of amazing embroideresses, who are probably wondering what went wrong… le sigh. I sew. I do not particularly embroider. ).
Wow! i received so many questions yesterday about how to hand tie a quilt and how i get my quilts to look so puffy. Soooo. Ask and ye shall receive! here's my method for hand tying a quilt and making it super fluffy. And fortunately it's pretty easy to do! i use high loft batting for my hand tied quilts. I sandwich it just like i would any other quilt. I lay the backing down (wrong side up), lay the batting on top and lay my quilt top on top of that (right side up of course). I pin it with lots and lots of large curved safety pins. I usually pin about 5" apart.
It seems so easy to thread a needle. You just push the thread right through the needle’s eye and that’s it. Yet you have to do it so often and it is so frustrating at times that many people, not only me, have come up with tricks, tools, and tips that help in the process of threading the little eye of the real tiny needle with a thin piece of thread.
Selection the eight knots in this section are the most basic knots - the building blocks of knot tying. They illustrate the fundamental principles of knot tying. Many are also components of other knots or they provide the underlying structure. The square knot (reef knot) and sheet bend are the two basic methods of joining two ropes; and the figure 8 underlies many other important knots.
